Bar and Montenegro are under attack from washed-up, ideologically adaptable neo-fascists, to whom a clear message must be sent - we are not the same, said the President of the Bar Municipal Assembly, Branislav Nenezić.
He congratulated the citizens of Bar on Municipality Day and Liberation Day.
"Dear citizens of Bar, today is more than eight decades since the historic, heroic struggle of our ancestors against the greatest evil of the 20th century for the freedom of their homes, and we are obliged to remind ourselves of all of them, especially those who gave their lives and thanks to whom we today have the opportunity and privilege to live in a modern and civic Bar. Bar that has never forgotten its anti-fascist past, Bar that has always been an example of preserving and respecting history, and we can proudly say that it is Bar today. In a time when attempts are being made to rewrite history, when the Chetnik movement is trying to equate itself with the Partisan, liberation movement, we have an even greater obligation, not to those who want to awaken the shadows of the past for the sake of plague and profit, but to those who are coming, those who are growing, so that they too may continue on the right path that they taught us, so that our Bar may continue to be what it is now and what it has always been," Nenezić announced.
He said that Bar is a city of diversity, but also a city of unity, of liberators, revolutionaries, daring, brave, but dignified - a city that, if it has to choose, will always opt for unity and a view and a path into the future instead of division.
"A city in which it has always been a privilege to live, a city that in the coming period will have to find a way to retain its youth, so that those who left can return and continue to build Bar, the way generations before us built it. A city with open doors, which knew how to welcome and accept everyone, a city that gave everyone a chance."
Nenezić said that anyone who has given a part of themselves to that city today "can be proud when they see what our Bar has become."
"Today, in addition to Bar, the whole of Montenegro is under attack from washed-up, ideologically adaptable neo-fascists, whose ancestors fled together from the liberators. There is no better place than our Bar, from which, in the name of our glorious history, in the name of the victims who are the foundation of civic Bar, in the name of the European and bright future of our children, a clear message must be sent to them... we are not the same!!!! I congratulate once again all the citizens of Bar on the Day of the Municipality and the Day of Liberation. May Montenegro be eternal and may Bar be eternal," wrote Nenezić.
