The Kolašin DPS said that in previous years they had constantly pointed out the shortcomings in the reconstruction of the Memorial House building in Kolašin, the price of which, as they say, increased manifold as the work progressed, so due to suspicions of illegal actions, the Special State Prosecutor's Office (SDT) launched an investigation.
"The 'historical' reconstruction of the Memorial House building in Kolašin is once again the subject of public attention. After the Special State Prosecutor's Office seized the documentation for the work in question, the reconstruction of the building has attracted great attention among the regional professional community. The manner of carrying out the works and the reconstruction of the Memorial House building was best assessed by the author and designer of the building, the famous Slovenian architect Marko Mušič, who agrees with the architect, writer and journalist Ena Katarina Hajler (who personally came to Kolašin to see the devastation of the building) that 'the works being carried out on the building, which is a protected cultural asset of local importance, do not represent reconstruction, but a gross violation of its identity and architectural value'," the statement states.
The attitude of the local authorities towards the protected cultural property and one of the symbols of Kolašin is best illustrated by the fact that architect Mušič addressed the local authorities with a letter in which he offered cooperation in the renovation of the building, without compensation for his own work, the Kolašin DPS points out.
"Of course, none of the local government representatives even deigned to respond to Mr. Mušič and take his proposal into serious consideration. The seriousness and transparency of the project is best illustrated by the fact that the construction site has not even had a construction sign or legally required fence in place for years, and the professional and expert credibility of the contractors and workers involved in the implementation of this extremely complex and demanding project is questionable," the statement states.
The DPS expressed hope that the citizens of Kolašin will soon see the completion of, as they said, the "reconstruction" of the Memorial House, which we will enter without an umbrella at the first sign of rain, and that the entire case will soon have an outcome before the state's judicial authorities.
