KCCG has joined the campaign "Take care, let it protect you".

"What we've started to show in recent times through this campaign is that change is possible and very quickly. It doesn't take an entire generation for change to happen," Satler believes.

By planting a linden tree in the courtyard of the Clinical Center of Montenegro (KCCG), this healthcare institution joined the national campaign "Take care, let it take care of you".

The linden tree was planted by the Head of the European Union Delegation to Montenegro, Johan Sattler, and the Director of the Croatian Cultural Center, Aleksandar Radović.

Sattler said that he is glad that KCCG is implementing what is written in the Constitution of Montenegro – that it is an ecological state.

"What we've started to show recently through this campaign is that change is possible and very quickly. It doesn't take an entire generation for change to happen," Satler believes.

He said that today the KCCG, as an important institution due to its size and significance, has joined the campaign.

"But also because KCCG produces a large amount of waste, just like any hospital," said Satler.

He added that through joint activities, they will focus primarily on the reduction and separation of waste and the treatment of hazardous waste that each hospital produces.

"When it comes to the sphere of environmental protection, we have a lot of initiatives now together with KCCG, we are collaborating on "Let's Green Montenegro" and we are here to be creators of change," said Satler.

He said that they also discussed with representatives of KCCG the change of the KCCG heating system, which is very outdated and produces a lot of C02.

Satler added that it will change soon.

"There are many activities that will be channels of change when it comes to the environmental aspect of this institution," Satler said.

Radović pointed out that a tender for the reconstruction of the Anesthesia Clinic will be announced in the coming days.

"And I hope that after the works are completed, KCCG will get a modern facility. The entire project costs 2,1 million EUR," said Radović.

He said that today KCCG is perhaps one of the biggest polluters, because they heat with heavy fuel oil.

"The consumption of fuel oil is not only in the winter but also in the summer when plants that require hot water have to operate. We consume fuel oil 12 months a year, which is unacceptable," said Radović.

He reminded that the tender and selection of producers for energy efficiency of KCCG is underway.

"I expect that a contractor will be selected quickly, at which point there will be a replacement, fuel oil will no longer be used, heat pumps, solar panels and everything that exists in Europe will be used," said Radović.

The director of the non-governmental organization "Let's Green Montenegro", Vuk Vujisić, said that they started the action with the KCCG a year ago, when over 200 trees were planted.

"I think the KCCG and its courtyard will become a green oasis," Vujisić believes.

He said that in addition to medical waste, there is also a problem with municipal waste.

"We will work on solutions for recycling and waste sorting. I hope that in two or three years we will not be able to recognize this yard," said Vujisić.

He said that solar panels in parking lots have also been announced.

"And I hope that this will happen as soon as possible. And I hope that KCCG will become an example of ecological transition in Montenegro," concluded Vujisić.
