Minister of Culture and Media Tamara Vujović congratulated the Capital City of Podgorica on winning the title of European Youth Capital for 2028, emphasizing that it is confirmation that young people in our society have the energy, knowledge and creativity that can change the community, but also that local community policies recognize this.
"This is a great success for Podgorica and important news for all of Montenegro," said Vujović.
She congratulated the administration of the Capital City, which, according to the minister, recognized the importance of this initiative, as well as the team that presented the project, for their dedicated work.
"I am particularly pleased that after Nikšić was elected European Capital of Culture 2030, another excellent piece of news for our country is coming, confirming that Montenegro is becoming recognized as a space of intensive cultural and social development and part of the European social milieu. Young people are the leaders of tomorrow, but also the initiators of change today, and their role is crucial because they will live with the results of our work and the decisions we make. That is precisely why the title of European Youth Capital is of great importance for Podgorica," said Vujović.
She emphasized that through this title, young people will be placed at the center of policies that will open up space for them to be creative, take action, and participate in decision-making processes.
"The Ministry of Culture and Media will be a dedicated partner to all initiatives that contribute to the development of youth and the strengthening of the cultural life of the country. I expect that Podgorica will use this opportunity to position itself even more strongly as a modern, inclusive and vibrant city of youth, and I wish success in the preparation and implementation of all the activities that follow. The European Capital of Culture and the European Youth Capital clearly show that we are already living our European future," concluded Vujović.
