The President of the Capital City Assembly, Jelena Borovinić Bojović, congratulated her fellow citizens on winning the title of European Youth Capital 2028 and emphasized that this is a moment that will be remembered as proof of the strength of young people in Podgorica.
"My dear fellow citizens, Podgorica has won! Our city has become the European Youth Capital 2028 – and that is a success that belongs to all of you... This is the moment when the energy of young people, their creativity, courage and perseverance shine brighter than ever," she said.
Borovinić Bojović is in video message published on the website of the Capital City Assembly, emphasized that Podgorica and Montenegro need such great victories that confirm dedication, unity and the desire to send the most beautiful possible image from our city - an image of good people, nobility, but also defiance and perseverance, which overcomes differences and unites our dreams.
"Europe has heard our voice – the voice of a city that believes in its youth," she pointed out.
She expressed special gratitude to the team that, as she said, believed and won, as well as to all the young people who were part of the process.
"You were the inspiration, you were the idea, you were the driving force. Without you, there would be neither this title, nor this Podgorica - proud, open, modern and determined," added Borovinić Bojović.
She pointed out that this victory also represents an obligation.
"This victory is not just recognition. It is an obligation. An obligation to provide young people with even more space, opportunities, support and freedom to create, explore and grow," said the President of the Capital City Assembly.
"Today we celebrate," she added, "but we've been working together since Monday."
"We are working towards a Podgorica that will be the European center of youth, innovation, culture and life in 2028. This is our victory. The victory of youth. The victory of Podgorica," concluded Borovinić Bojović.
