The Police Directorate announced that a planned operation "Gravel" is being carried out in the territory of Podgorica, with the aim of controlling persons who illegally exploit and transport sand.
They spoke out "with the aim of accurately and objectively informing the public, and to prevent any manipulation and abuse through statements and posts on social networks, and causing panic among citizens by individuals."
They said that they are carrying out the action in accordance with national priority areas in combating environmental crime - uncovering criminal acts and perpetrators related to the illegal exploitation of sand, gravel, stone and the destruction of natural biodiversity.
"We appeal to those who publish inaccurate information to refrain from publishing such unverified information, and we also appeal to the media to first verify the accuracy of the information with law enforcement authorities," the statement reads.
Knežević claimed that an intervention against the people of Botunja is being prepared.
The president of the Democratic People's Party, Milan Knežević, previously called on the people of Zeća to "urgently head to Botun", claiming that the police were preparing an intervention against the residents of that settlement, who were protesting in tents against the construction of a wastewater treatment plant.
"I call on all Zeta residents to head to Botun URGENTLY. The police have stopped traffic for trucks and are apparently preparing an intervention against the residents of Botun. Anyone who is from Zeta and of Zeta descent must be in Botun today. Let's defend Zeta - No Pasaran," Knežević wrote on Facebook.
