Several hundred residents of Zeta are currently gathered at the location planned for the construction of a wastewater treatment plant in Botun, following an invitation from the leader of the Democratic People's Party (DNP), Milan Knežević.

Knežević is also at that location with the locals.

The leader of the DNP called on the people of Zeta this morning to "urgently head to Botun", claiming that the police are preparing an intervention against the residents of that settlement, who are protesting in tents against the construction of the collector.

However, the Police Directorate announced that a planned operation "Sand" is being carried out in the territory of Podgorica, with the aim of controlling persons who illegally exploit and transport sand, and they called for the spread of misinformation and panic.

The President of the Municipality of Zeta, Mihailo Asanović, said he did not know what kind of police coordination there was - due to the tents or the gravel exploitation.

He asked the police to explain why they were stopping cars and buses.

He appealed to the Police Directorate to receive the Botunjans and talk to them, emphasizing that they do not want incidents.

"Tomorrow I will appeal to (Podgorica Mayor Saša) Mujović. Our offer is to open a company on this plot. We have received offers from two companies. Let's go together. Let the government negotiate with them. Let them employ 500 people here. Let's work, let's bring in a Lidl," he said.

Two residents of Botun, after asking questions to the DNP's leader, Milan Knežević, approached a "Vijesti" journalist, suggesting that he take their side and "harm" them with his questions.

The journalist told them that he was doing his job and taking an objective stance, and a few minutes later they came forward to explain what they meant by the suggestions. Representatives of the people of Botunja apologized on their behalf.

"Tensions are high, we are under pressure"

Local resident Duško Stijepović said that they were informed that the activities of the Police Directorate had increased, so they gathered in large numbers because of this.

"Tensions have increased. We are under pressure, and we don't know where we stand. We are being ignored by Prime Minister Milojko Spajić, as well as the Police Directorate," he said.

He said they were ready to resist in a normal and civilized manner.

"We distance ourselves from any incident that could occur with first-line authorities," said Stijepović.

Local resident Jagoš Bećirović said they found it strange that the police stopped the city bus and tractors.

"My opinion is that this is a pulse-pounding exercise. We want to show strength and will that we are ready to fight," he said, adding that they must "be careful in all of this."

"I want to call on all authorities that this problem cannot be solved without sober thinking. The way Mujović and (Aleksandar) Nišavić are solving it cannot be... There is a big rally tomorrow at 13 pm," he said.
