The reconstruction work on the city square in Mojkovac, according to some tenants of the building at that address, is being carried out with significant damage to the facade. Allegedly, "the work directly threatens the safety of passersby, tenants and employees in nearby buildings, and there is no adequate protection or communication with the company about the problems that have arisen."
The recently fallen tree in the town square, according to residents of buildings on the square, was also damaged by the works.
"Fortunately, no one was hurt when the tree fell, and let's remind you that we called on the authorities to do something so that no one would lose their lives. The monument to the national hero Ljubomir Bakoč was also damaged. The facade of the buildings was damaged, and life became unbearable, especially for those on the ground floor," claim the people of Mojkovci.
They appeal to the competent authorities to react urgently, examine the manner in which the works were carried out, and take measures to protect the safety and property of citizens...
From the office of the President of the Municipality Vesko Delić did not want to comment on these allegations. They claim that they said everything they had about the square. According to unofficial information from the Municipality, the reasons for the tree's fall are being investigated by the competent services, and that there is a possibility that the cause was bad weather. Apparently, this has happened in previous years as well.
Delić's office previously told "Vijesti" that the reconstruction works "are being carried out according to the revised main project, and the contractor has a permit for the part that is currently being worked on, and for the complete works they will receive a permit, the issuance of which is in the process." They also said that "they expect the square to have a new look in the first sunny months after winter."
Delić's office said last month that there had been no extension of deadlines, but that work on separating the fecal and atmospheric sewage was being carried out in parallel with the construction of the square. "Separation of the sewage is being carried out now, he said, so that the newly built square would not have to be rehabilitated later."
"Of course, there are network outages because the Municipality does not have precise records of installations. However, all outages were repaired within the deadline. The utility responds to challenges in the shortest possible time and does everything to ensure that citizens do not suffer major damage," the Municipality told Vijesti at the time.
They also reminded that “many larger municipalities do not have good cadastres of underground installations”. Delić then called on “the owners of catering facilities, as well as other businesses located on the square, to be patient so that the works can be completed smoothly and as soon as possible”. The reconstruction of the square, he says, will provide a lot both visually and functionally, although, he claims, he understands the “difficult conditions for walking across the square”.
