The Public Relations and Protocol Service of Danilovgrad announced that the main street in Spuž was officially opened today, following the completion of works implemented as part of local and state development projects.
As stated in the statement, this infrastructure project represents an important step in improving living conditions and transport connections for the residents of Spuži.
"The ceremonial opening was attended by the leadership of the Municipality of Danilovgrad, members of the local parliament, members of the Parliament of Montenegro, as well as numerous locals who expressed their satisfaction with the completion of the works and the importance of the new road for the MZ Spuž," it is stated.
The statement added that the implementation of the project was made possible by an amendment to the 2025 Budget Law, submitted by MP Duško Stjepović, which provided the necessary funding for the completion of the works.
At the opening of the street, Stjepović said that he was extremely pleased to be in Spuž today and that, thanks to him and his fellow MPs from Danilovgrad, together with the parliamentary majority in Parliament, funds in the amount of 450,000 euros were secured for the reconstruction of this street.
"I am very proud of that fact, and especially that the local government used that amendment as it should. Today it is an honor to be an MP and a politician, because when you do something like this, engaging in politics takes on real meaning. When you have the strength and power to make the lives of your fellow citizens, in this case the people of Spuž, but also all those who use this road route every day," said Stjepović.
He added that in the past 30 years, except for the roundabout on the Podgorica-Danilovgrad regional road, no investments have been made in Spuž, unfortunately.
"We had to correct that, because that is also the motive for engaging in politics, to create, work and build. Last year, thanks to my amendment, work began towards Studen, which continued this year, thanks to the amendment of my colleague Darko Dragović," said Stjepović, adding that this government has completed the long-awaited journey through Martinić, launching and completing numerous projects.
"I will also mention the road through Bandići, which was an amendment by my colleague Zdenka Popović the year before last, and I believe that the remaining part of the road from the roundabout to the bridge on Kulendrija will be completed next year. The paving of the streets in the inner city center, together with the renovation of facades in Danilovgrad, will give our city a new face, and all of this together is the motive why I entered politics," concludes Stjepović.
Bojan Pavićević, Vice President of the Municipality of Danilovgrad, emphasized today that this street in Spuž is one of the busiest in Danilovgrad, given that Spuž is the largest local community in this city.
"Unfortunately, Spuž did not receive adequate 'treatment' from the former government, although it deserves it, both because it is the largest local community and because of its historical importance. We are truly and wholeheartedly trying to fix this. More can and must certainly be invested in Spuž, and by reconstructing the main street, we are showing that we will. I would like to commend the efforts of our deputies in the state parliament, specifically my colleague from the Democratic Montenegro, Duško Stjepović, for this project, but also other colleagues, thanks to whose amendments Danilovgrad can be restored and built," said Pavićević.
He points out that the Municipality alone would not be able to financially support such large projects, especially considering that they have a large, multi-million-dollar debt, but, as he says, with this kind of work, they will be able to "break even".
"Today, this is an indicator of successful cooperation and joint efforts between local government and the state," concluded Pavicevic.
The President of the Municipality of Danilovgrad, Aleksandar Grgurović, also expressed his satisfaction that the works in Spuž have been successfully completed and that the people of Spuž have received a modern road, which they deserve. He added that the Municipality of Danilovgrad will continue to invest in municipal and transport infrastructure, with the aim of creating a more modern, safer and more orderly environment for all citizens.
The President of the Danilovgrad Municipal Assembly, Predrag Pajović, expressed his special satisfaction because the works were completed with quality and on time, and as a native of Spuž, he also highlighted the many years of neglect of Spuž, however, as he said, now Spuž is getting what it deserves, quality roads and investments. Pajović said that Spuž was unfairly left out and neglected, but now, with the efforts of the local government, that is, the new government, this injustice will be corrected.
