Part of the New Year's decorations on the streets of Kolašin were destroyed on the night between Saturday and Sunday.
It is assumed that the incident occurred after the Municipal Police shift ended, after 1.30 am.
The damage caused by the vandals is extensive, especially in the area around the Memorial House. Some of the installations were torn out, lamps were broken, and some of the larger decorations were damaged. Similar vandalism was reported about ten days ago.
The competent municipal services and individuals have invested a great deal of effort in recent days to decorate the city ahead of the New Year and Christmas holidays, when the largest number of tourists are traditionally expected.
In order to protect the decoration and prevent further damage, the Municipality announced that they will be forced to install video surveillance on the streets of Kolašin, and the incident has been reported to the police.
"Last night's vandalism of New Year's decorations is a sad reminder that, despite the efforts of many people to make our city more beautiful and warmer during the holidays, sometimes actions occur that disrupt the common space and the work of many hardworking hands. Holiday decorations are not just decorations, they are an image of a city that wants to radiate good energy, togetherness and attention to every passerby. Therefore, the incident will be reported to the police, and in the coming days all key locations will be covered by video surveillance in order to preserve public property," the Municipality of Kolašin announced.
The Municipality invites its fellow citizens to appreciate the efforts of people who selflessly engage in making Kolašin more beautiful for all those who live there and welcome tourists in the most representative way possible during the upcoming holidays.
