Almost 400 of the planned 488 comprehensive checks of assets and income of public officials were completed by November 1, and 150 additional controls were conducted.

This information was announced by the acting (acting) director of the Anti-Corruption Agency (AKP). Dušan Drakić during yesterday's consideration of Information on the conducted checks of reports on income and assets of public officials in accordance with the Annual Check Plan at the session of the ASK Council.

As announced, based on the identified irregularities, 133 misdemeanor and 118 administrative proceedings were initiated, while the Agency completed 92 controls ex officio or at the request of other authorities.

The statement states that it is also planned to connect the Agency's information systems with the Tax Administration databases in order to access the Register of Beneficial Owners, as well as with the database of the competent public procurement directorate. This would, as stated, significantly improve the accuracy and scope of property checks of public officials. A Memorandum of Cooperation was also signed today with the Special State Prosecutor's Office, which establishes a faster exchange of data through designated contact points.

With the support of international partners, it is planned to simplify the asset declaration procedure, which includes a move to exclusively electronic submission of reports and the possibility of partially pre-filled forms, in order to reduce technical errors and speed up processing.

Special focus has been placed on in-depth checks - of the planned 30, most have already been completed, and the completion of the remaining ones has been announced for January, the institution announced.
