Natalija Ljumović, a six-year-old girl from Podgorica, is a new beneficiary of the "Be Humane" Foundation, the foundation announced today.
The statement states that Natalija has been battling the consequences of severe perinatal asphyxia since birth, which has left lasting consequences on neurological and psychomotor development.
"Natalija was already a beneficiary of the 'Be Human' Foundation, when treatments were provided, thanks to which she achieved important and encouraging progress in several areas of development: motor skills, oromotor functions, sensorimotor abilities and functional skills. Today, she can walk on level ground for longer, play music independently, give a 'high five', recognize and look forward to a photo of her older sister," said the 'Be Human' Foundation.
They state that Natalija still has significant developmental difficulties that she bravely faces every day.
"Her speech is still underdeveloped, she is fed through a nasogastric tube due to her inability to chew solid food, and her gait is still unstable, which limits her independence and safety in daily activities. In order to continue developing in the right direction and achieve her full potential, Nat needs continuous and intensive treatments that include physical exercises to strengthen motor skills and balance, defectological and sensory treatments to improve cognitive and functional abilities, as well as orofacial exercises that are key to the development of chewing, swallowing and speech. To implement this comprehensive program, 28.260 euros need to be raised," said the "Be Human" Foundation.
