No bids were received for the tender announced by the Municipality of Pljevlja for the construction of the first phase of Patriarch Varnava Square.
"The opening of bids was held, but, despite the estimated value of the works of 480 thousand euros including VAT, no company registered as a contractor," said the mayor of Pljevlja.
Vranes said that this is another in a series of tenders in the north for which there are no interested companies.
"This is a consequence of the labor shortage in Montenegro, especially in the construction sector. Large companies are focused on projects in Podgorica and coastal municipalities. The north is less interesting to them, and they also state that the costs of carrying out the work are significantly higher," Vranes pointed out.
The Municipality announces that the tender will be repeated immediately, with an increase in the estimated price, in the hope that this will attract contractors and enable the start of the implementation of one of, as the municipality states, more important projects in the city.
The municipality recently announced a tender for the first phase of works on the construction of Patriarch Varnava Square, which will be built on the area between the Church of St. Petka and the Pljevlja Labor Office building. It was announced that the tender for the second phase would be announced immediately after the New Year, given that the technical documentation has already been completed.
"The monument is finished and is located in Novi Sad. Its construction cost 112.000 euros including VAT. I hope that we will get a quality contractor so that we can complete the work by the middle of next year. The square will include a monument, a fountain, a public water fountain, a park area with decorative lighting and a promenade closed to traffic. The entire project will cost around 1.200.000 euros," said Vraneš. He added that the work is being delayed due to problems with the removal of illegal structures.
