The "Be Humane" Foundation has appealed for help for six-year-old Natalija Ljumović, who has been struggling with the consequences of severe perinatal asphyxia since birth.
"As the year slowly draws to a close, many of us are thinking about the wishes we carry into the new year. For the parents of six-year-old Natalija Ljumović, that wish is simple, but huge – for their little girl to continue with treatments that give her a chance for progress and a more independent life. Since birth, Nata has lived with the consequences of severe perinatal asphyxia, which have left permanent consequences on her neurological and psychomotor development. However, thanks to the treatments she has received so far, Nata is today showing how much strength and potential she carries within her – she walks on a flat surface, plays music on her own, gives a 'high five' and looks forward to photos of her older sister. These small but precious steps mean more to her family than anything," the statement reads.
However, as they said, the journey is not over yet.
"Natalia's speech is still underdeveloped, she is fed via a nasogastric tube, and her gait is still unstable. In order for her to continue to progress, continuous and intensive treatments are necessary - physical exercises, sensory, defectological and orofacial treatments, which can help her to be closer to independence every day. Thanks to your support so far, more than 13 thousand euros have been collected through the budihuman.me platform. However, a little more than 15 thousand euros are still needed to continue the treatment. On the threshold of the new year, let's be a part of Natalia's story. Let's help her small steps not stop and her greatest wish - to continue to progress - become a reality," the foundation urged.
