Member of Parliament of Montenegro and leader of the Democratic People's Party (DNP), Milan Knežević, said today that the contract for the construction of the Wastewater Treatment Plant is "unprecedented".

He also said that most of the contract was blacked out.

"Look at this wonderful contract and these claims by the European Commission, the Capital City, the Government and everyone else, that everything is clean, transparent and that there is not a single element that could endanger the environment."

Knežević called on the Chief Special Prosecutor Vladimir Novović to verify the legality of this contract and to summon the former mayor of Podgorica, Ivan Vuković, for questioning.

"I call on the Chief Special Prosecutor, Mr. Novović, to call Ivan Vuković, who seems to have moved to PES, for the past two or three days, because he defends this contract so much and praises Mr. Mujović, to call him for questioning, and to ask him what they signed this contract with? It is very important that the Special State Prosecutor's Office finally establishes here, since the pages about equipment have been blacked out, the pages about consulting services have been blacked out, the pages about the method of financing have been blacked out, everything that we from Zeta have been asking for these days."

When asked by a journalist what political move he would make if the police acted repressively against the residents of Botuni in order to begin construction of the Wastewater Treatment Plant, Knežević responded by announcing his resignation from power in Podgorica and at the state level.

"The very act of the police reaction, which would be repressive, in my opinion unconstitutional and illegal, will lead to certain and concrete moves, and that is that I will convene a session of the Presidency and propose leaving power in both Podgorica and the state government."

The DNP leader said that he and his team analyzed the contract and came to the conclusion that the technology is not in line with European standards. Therefore, he is proposing a revision.

"We need to request a revision of the project documentation and technical solutions in line with EU standards and include an independent geochemical assessment of the site and condition the continuation of work on additional measurements and sanitary measures, gentlemen. And before all that, we need to get the project."
