Work began today in the city park in Bijelo Polje to remove diseased and dilapidated trees, in accordance with the approval of the Institute for Nature Protection.
As announced by the Lim Public Utility Company, expert analyses showed that some of the trees were in very poor condition, and that dry and weakened branches posed a potential danger to citizens and passersby.
They emphasize that the safety of fellow citizens was a priority because moving through the park had become risky, especially during times of high winds and heavy rainfall.
"Some parts of the trees, which were several years old, posed a risk of injury," the utility said.
They remind that they are aware that the City Park, as one of the most beautiful and significant places in Bijelo Polje, has a special historical and emotional value for citizens, and that they understand the concerns of a part of the public, who believe that in this way the park will lose its authentic appearance.
Understanding the concerns of some in the public that the park could lose its authentic appearance, they say that there is no reason for concern.
"In place of the removed trees, new, healthy seedlings will be planted, adapted to the area and climatic conditions, which will restore the full splendor of this green oasis of the city in the coming years," said the Lim Public Utility Company.
