Vranes: Spajic, Culafic and Gazdic to stop belittling Pljevlja residents

"It has been three days since the ecological disaster and collective poisoning of our citizens, and Prime Minister Spajić, Minister Ćulafić and the Director of the Environmental Protection Agency Gazdić have not yet deigned to come to Pljevlja and see firsthand the ecocide being perpetrated against the residents of our municipality," said the Mayor of Pljevlja.

The President of the Municipality of Pljevlja, Dr. Dario Vraneš, appealed to Prime Minister Milojko Spajić, Minister of Ecology Damjan Ćulafić, and Director of the Environmental Protection Agency Milan Gazdić to urgently visit Pljevlja and, as he stated, personally see the scale of the ecological disaster and collective poisoning of citizens, which has been going on for the third day.

"It has been three days since the ecological disaster and collective poisoning of our citizens, and Prime Minister Spajić, Minister Ćulafić and the Director of the Environmental Protection Agency Gazdić have not yet deigned to come to Pljevlja and see for themselves the ecocide being perpetrated against the residents of our municipality, this time the largest since air quality measurements were taken. I appeal to Spajić, Ćulafić and Gazdić to get serious and stop belittling the people of Pljevlja and to visit our municipality as soon as possible and see for themselves the state of the ecological disaster that is indescribable in words," Vraneš said in a statement.

He criticized the decision of the authorities to, as he claims, send inspections to close the city boiler room, instead of visiting the General Hospital in Pljevlja and, in particular, the children's ward, where, according to him, there are newborns only a few days old connected to respirators.

"Instead of sending an inspectorate to discipline the people of Pljevlja by closing the city boiler room, I invite them to visit the children's ward of the Pljevlja General Hospital and the eight- and fifteen-day-old newborns on respirators," said the city's first mayor.

Vraneš rejected claims that the city boiler house, which consumes between six and seven tons of coal daily, may be a greater polluter than the Pljevlja Thermal Power Plant, which, as he stated, burns around 6.000 tons of coal daily, describing such allegations as an insult to the intelligence of citizens.

"Anyone's claim that the city boiler house, which consumes six to seven tons of coal daily, pollutes more than the Pljevlja Thermal Power Plant, which burns around 6.000 tons of coal daily, can only be considered an insult to the intelligence of our citizens," said Vraneš.

In the statement, he specifically criticized certain officials, whom he called "weekend Pljevlja residents", claiming that they had moved their families to Podgorica.

"To tell the truth, the claims of the "weekend Pljevljaks" who have taken their families to Podgorica, and who hold important official positions in Pljevlja, that the main cause of the environmental incident is individual fireplaces, are not surprising. Citizens have long since seen through their true intentions and their solo stay in Pljevlja for one to two days a week. For decades, Pljevljaks have resisted the pressures and blackmail of the once all-powerful DPS, so be sure that they will know how to respond to both the environmental inspection and those who sent them to try to discipline our citizens with blackmail. Everyone must understand that the time for belittling Pljevljaks is finally over and that this is the new Pljevlja that everyone must get used to. No one can stop the development of the municipality," concluded Vraneš. GM
