Snežana Radusinović, the editor of the shows "Istraživač" and "Eureka" as part of the RTCG science and education program, claims that the media outlet is planning to cancel these science series and assign her to the portal's editorial team.
Along with her review of the situation, she also submitted an appeal to the RTCG Council and the media requesting that these science series remain on the national broadcaster's program, which was signed by 216 university professors from all three Montenegrin universities, teaching assistants, scientists, and researchers.
In his address to the media, Radusinović also stated that this RTCG plan will be discussed at today's session of the media company's Council.
"Based on the fact that the standards of the Council of Europe (COE) and the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) highly rank the importance of the educational role of public services, which are justifiably expected to deliver high-quality content to citizens that takes into account the needs of all segments of society, I point out that the current management is lightly and without valid arguments giving up on the scientific program, which has recently been supported by more than 210 university professors, teaching assistants, and members of the academic and scientific research community... I invite you to prevent the cancellation of the scientific series 'Istraživač', which I have been editing since 2010, and the series 'Eureka', which I have been editing since 2024, at the session of the RTCG Council," Radusinović wrote in his address to the media and the RTCG Council.
She also said that the decision on whether TVCG will continue to have a science-documentary program is in the hands of the Council members. Radusinović says that in parallel with the cancellation of the programs, a new act on internal organization and job systematization was adopted.
"I would like to inform you that the proposed program-production plan for 2026 omitted the aforementioned series from the production of the scientific-educational program, although they were an integral part of the draft PP plan for the following year in the document. I also inform you that in the systematization act submitted to you for adoption, my position - editor of show 1 in Desk TV (scientific-educational program) - is being abolished as unnecessary. The document states that the number of employees is being reduced from the existing five to the required four. I did not receive an answer to the questions of why scientific TV shows are not needed for the scientific-educational program, whether these changes will make it only educational, and why series with over 150 shows produced on a wide variety of topics from natural and social, fundamental and applied sciences are being abolished," Radusinović stated in the letter.
She also assessed that it was unclear why, in an era of integration of all three media (TV, radio, portal), a journalist with 27 years of work experience at TVCG would be transferred to the portal.
"It is precisely in this act of systematization that you will vote on Monday that the job description of the TV editor is being changed in the direction of producing programs not only for television, but also for radio and for the portal. This means that from that position I could continue to produce TV content, while at the same time contributing to the portal's content. I have written to you in several emails and letters this year about how my intense union activity contributed to the mysterious disappearance of science from the scientific and educational program of TVCG. Here I will only emphasize that in the written proposal of topics and projects for the PP plan for 2026 in September, I also pointed out the following. According to the rebalance of the financial plan for 2025, 190.000 euros were planned for entertainment programs, 30.000 euros for music videos, and zero euros for science. At that time, I had no idea that the next stage would be zero minutes for science. Will RTCG viewers watch scientific TV series next year? Will another job position be eliminated in "a scientific and educational program that is already at its historic low, with only five employees," Radusinović asked.
