The completion of work on the building of the technical faculties in Podgorica confirms the commitment of the institutions to strengthening the educational infrastructure and developing higher education in accordance with modern standards.

This was announced at a meeting at the Rectorate of the University of Montenegro (UCG), held to mark the final phase of works on the building of the technical faculty.

The meeting was attended by the Rector of the University of Montenegro Vladimir Bozovic, President of the University Board of Directors Milivoje Radović, Minister of Public Works Majda Adzović and Minister of Education, Science and InnovationAnđela JakšićStojanović, and other representatives of the University of Montenegro, relevant institutions, contractors and professional services.

The meeting emphasized the importance of the successful implementation of this capital infrastructure project, which represents a significant step in improving the conditions for studying, teaching and scientific research at the University of Montenegro, reports Media Biro.

The project includes works on expansion B, as well as part of expansion A. A comprehensive adaptation of the remaining parts of the building is planned, including the renovation of the facade, the replacement of facade hardware and interior joinery, as well as complete construction and trade interventions in the interior. A special focus is on the energy efficiency of the building - modern heating, cooling and ventilation systems with automatic regulation will be installed, as well as advanced high and low voltage systems: lighting, ICT network, video surveillance, access control and fire alarm. The project also plans to install modern hydrotechnical installations, which will make the building, as it was emphasized, fully compliant with the requirements of a modern university environment.

Speaking about the importance of the project, Rector Božović thanked all participants, emphasizing that the presence of Ministers Jakšić Stojanović and Adžović shows the respect the state has for the University of Montenegro and its role in the development of society.

"The building of the technical faculties is not just another building on the university campus – it is iconic. It is the building that most people think of first when they say the University of Montenegro. That is precisely why it is important that it be at its best, worthy of the generation of students, teachers and researchers who work and create in it. After more than fifty years, it was time to help this temple of science. Buildings, like people, need refreshment after so much time – not to lose their identity, but to preserve it and strengthen it for the future. In the past five years, the building of the technical faculties has experienced numerous beautiful and useful changes. But, if we were to look for a symbolic beginning of that renovation, then that is the moment when its heart beat strongly again – the renovation of amphitheater 106. Since then, step by step, this space has regained the energy and importance it deserves. Today we continue on that path – this is the largest single infrastructure project at the University of Montenegro, worth over 11 million euros, and it is not just an investment in the building, but in knowledge, in people and in the future of Montenegro," said Božović.

Radović thanked the ministers for the strong support they provided to the project of reconstruction and upgrading the technical faculty building, adding that this is just another in a series of projects that have been successfully implemented.

"Thanks to Ministers Jakšić-Stojanović and Adžović, everything that was problematic in terms of infrastructure and other administrative challenges that accompany every university, including ours, is now much faster and easier to resolve. The two of them do not see the construction of the building as an expense, but as an investment in the future of higher education in Montenegro."

He expressed hope that in the coming period he will continue to have the full support of the relevant Minister, Anđela Jakšić Stojanović, for the implementation of new important projects regarding education reform.

Jakšić Stojanović pointed out that the exceptional cooperation between the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation, the Ministry of Public Works and the University of Montenegro results in large infrastructure projects that "finally, after several decades, enable our students to receive the most modern conditions for studying, like those in the most developed countries in Europe and the world."

"The adaptation of the technical faculty building in Podgorica, with a total value of over 11 million euros, is one of the most significant infrastructure projects in the field of higher education, and in the coming period we will also have other projects that we will jointly implement. In parallel, in cooperation with the University of Montenegro, we are working on launching new study programs, equipping laboratories and improving the quality of student standards through the provision of student scholarships and loans, as well as continuously improving living conditions in student dormitories throughout Montenegro," she said.

Adžović said that in the previous period, the state has clearly demonstrated responsibility and commitment to "improving this significant educational infrastructure."

"The Ministry of Public Works, or the former Capital Projects Administration, has so far invested 1.148.326,77 euros in the adaptation of the technical faculty building. These funds were directed to rehabilitation works, renovation and protection of the facade, replacement of facade hardware, as well as waterproofing works, which created a solid foundation for the continuation of the comprehensive modernization of the facility. And now - a new, major step forward is ahead of us. The new adaptation project, with a total value of 11.071.367,48 euros including VAT, with a completion period of 24 months, will encompass the entire facility, as well as part of the space that has already been previously adapted. Together, we are building a space in which knowledge is not only transferred, but also created. A space that encourages innovation, development and the stay of young people in Montenegro," she said.
