Minister of Education, Science and Innovation Anđela Jakšić Stojanović signed scholarship agreements with 32 students from Montenegro who are studying at prestigious world universities, the ministry announced, stating that the scholarship amounts to up to 25 thousand euros per candidate.

The Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation (MESI) said that the new Law on Higher Education introduced the Excellence Fund for the first time and provided for scholarships for students studying at institutions ranked up to 200th in the Shanghai Ranking, in order to encourage academic excellence, international mobility and access to the highest quality educational institutions in the world.

The Ministry of Education and Science stated that a total of 32 scholarships were awarded, in recognition of exceptional academic results, continuous work, and dedication of students studying at prestigious educational institutions abroad.

"The amount of the scholarship per candidate is up to 25 thousand euros and depends on several factors, such as the university's position in the ranking list, and the scholarship can cover the costs of tuition, accommodation, food, local public transportation, research costs, small equipment, publishing scientific papers, purchasing literature and participation in scientific congresses," the statement says.

It is stated that the ceremonial reception was attended by Jakšić Stojanović, State Secretary Tatjana Ćalasan, and Director of the Directorate for Higher Education and Student Standards Dragana Ćetković.

Jakšić Stojanović emphasized that the awarding of scholarships represents a significant step in improving the quality of higher education.

She emphasized that with this program they want to show that the state stands behind Montenegrin students who are gaining international academic experience and that investment in them is just beginning.

"We are proud of the fact that our young people are achieving exceptional results at the international level and that they represent us in the best way at prestigious educational institutions in the world. Investing in education is the best investment in the future of Montenegro," said Jakšić Stojanović.

Ćalasan said that students are expected to one day transfer the acquired knowledge and experience to Montenegro and, through their activities and engagement, support the generations of students who are yet to come.

Ćetković said that the Directorate for Higher Education will continue to develop programs that recognize and encourage excellence.

"You who achieve exceptional results in different educational systems represent Montenegro in the best possible way in the international academic community," Ćetković emphasized.

The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology announced that, in cooperation with the University of Montenegro, they will continue to improve student support programs in the coming period, with a special focus on excellence in higher education.
