"Art gives me complete freedom to express myself in the way I want," said Milica Đurović, a student at the Faculty of Fine Arts, after receiving the University of Montenegro (UCG) award for the best student in the 2025/2026 academic year.
Milica Đurović was born in Nikšić, and today lives and studies in Cetinje, where she is attending undergraduate studies at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Painting. With an average grade of 9,98, she stood out as one of the most successful students at the University of Montenegro, according to a statement from that educational institution.
Speaking about the recognition she received, Đurović emphasized that this award has a special meaning for her.
"This award is a confirmation of the effort I have put in during my studies so far," she emphasized.
She has been involved in art since childhood, and her interest in painting developed through continuous work and research into various artistic expressions. During her education so far, she has participated in numerous joint exhibitions, while in her work she deals with themes of nostalgia, memories and personal recollections, inspired by everyday life and intimate experiences.
She describes herself as positive, communicative and ambitious, and highlights teamwork, cooperation with colleagues, festivals and joint gatherings within the faculty as important segments of her studies, according to a statement from the University of Montenegro.
"There is constant teamwork at the faculty, where we all help each other," said Đurović.
In the future, she plans to continue her education at master's studies abroad, where she wants to further develop the topics she is currently working on, but also to explore new directions in contemporary art.
The University of Montenegro Award was presented to Milica Đurović by the Rector of the University of Montenegro, Vladimir Božović, at a ceremony held at the Rectorate of the University of Montenegro.
She told young future students of the Faculty of Fine Arts that success does not come without effort.
"We should not take anything lightly, because behind every success there is great work, and this faculty provides the space to be who we truly are," concluded Đurović.
