The Director of the Institute for Diseases of Children, Dr. Velibor Majić, has resigned from that position, it was confirmed to Television Vijesti.

The resignation comes at a time when the Institute for Children's Diseases is facing serious personnel challenges, which Majić recently publicly warned about.

Appearing earlier on the show "Colors of Morning" on Television Vijesti, Majić said that the Children's Hospital is facing the announced departure of several doctors, as well as ten nurses, including the most experienced staff from the neonatology and intensive care departments.

He also warned about the overloaded healthcare system and the difficult conditions in which doctors and medical staff work, stating that despite numerous appeals, their requests were not heeded.

"These are high fevers, sore throats, coughs - all of which should be taken care of by the chosen pediatrician. However, after 21 pm in Podgorica, there are no pediatricians in primary health care, so the entire burden falls solely on our hospital," Majić said at the time.

He then compared working conditions in the public and private sectors, warning that the state is no longer competitive when it comes to retaining healthcare staff.
