The capital city of Podgorica today introduced into operational use ten new utility vehicles for the needs of the city company "Čistoća", with a total value of 1.669.074 euros, provided from the budget of the capital city.

"This investment represents a significant step forward in improving the quality and efficiency of municipal services. The procurement includes four garbage trucks (two with a capacity of 8 m³, one with a capacity of 16 m³ and one with a capacity of 22 m³ with a crane), one forklift truck, one drinking water tanker truck with a cannon, as well as four dump trucks (two with a capacity of 16 m³ with a grab and two with a capacity of 14 m³)," the local government announced.

Podgorica Mayor Saša Mujović emphasized that the new vehicles will enable faster, more reliable and efficient work in the field.

"Ten new vehicles starting today will significantly improve operational processes. However, it is important that all of us, the citizens of Podgorica, make our contribution – through proper waste disposal and responsible behavior. Only through joint efforts can we achieve results in a short time that we will all be proud of."

Mujović emphasized that this is just one contingent within a broader investment cycle.

"This year, we invested around 2,8 million euros in the purchase of utility vehicles from the budget of the Capital City, and additionally, several hundred thousand euros were secured through the funds and projects of the city company Čistoća. Thus, we end this year with an investment cycle worth around 3,1 million euros. I would also like to commend the exceptional efforts that the employees of Čistoća are making to keep our city clean. They work 24 hours a day, in all weather conditions, often exposed to great efforts. It is our obligation to have more understanding and respect for the people who care about the cleanliness of the city," he said, thanking the director of "Čistoća" Denis Hot for his contribution to improving the company's work.

Mujović emphasized the importance of support from international partners, especially the European Union.

"Thanks to the strong support of our partners from the European Union and the 'Protect and Let It Protect You' campaign, visible results have been achieved in the fight against illegal landfills. Through their efforts, and especially with the support of Mr. Satler, we have obtained permits to install cameras in critical locations, which will enable better control and more efficient sanctioning of irresponsible behavior," emphasized the mayor, recalling comparative data on investments.

"During 2025, we invested around 2,8 million euros in new municipal vehicles, while in the previous two years a total of 4,26 million euros were invested. For comparison, from the establishment of Čistoća as a limited liability company in 2004 until 2023, less than six million euros were invested. So, more was invested in two years than in almost the previous two decades," he pointed out.

"This clearly shows our intention, which is that we want a clean and tidy city, and as the city administration, we will continue to provide all necessary conditions so that cleanliness in the capital is at the level that citizens deserve," said Mujović.

Secretary of the Secretariat for Finance Balša Špadijer emphasized that investments in the city company "Čistoća" have yielded concrete and measurable results.

"I am particularly pleased to point out that the Capital City, together with the company 'Čistoća', has acquired around 30 new machines since 2023 and that we have exceeded the amount of six million euros through joint investment. In addition, we have provided over a thousand above-ground and some underground containers. I expect that next year will be a year of financial consolidation for the company, exiting negative results and moving into a positive business zone. At the beginning of next year, it is planned to cover between 50 and 70 locations with video surveillance, which will further improve the efficiency of work in the field. This equipment and investments confirm that the city has never been cleaner, and I am confident that by reducing costs and improving operational processes, we will achieve positive business in the coming year," said the secretary.

Director of "Čistoća" Denis Hot emphasized that the investments of the Capital City in the previous period were of crucial importance for the stabilization and improvement of the company's work.

"As Secretary Špadijer and the Mayor have already pointed out, significant funds have been invested in 'Čistoć' in the past two years - a total of around four million euros for 30 new vehicles, including one vehicle purchased through the project. This data speaks volumes about the care of the Capital City. However, all the effort and investment lose their meaning if the first link in the chain fails, which are the citizens. The fact that awareness is growing and that citizens are increasingly reacting to improper waste disposal is encouraging. Today, we have a stable fleet, and we even help neighboring municipalities, while two years ago we had only a few operational vehicles. In the coming period, special focus must be on personnel, because without quality and motivated people there is no sustainable system. If we want to keep workers in Montenegro, we must provide them with better conditions," said Hot.
