Heating service users, whose apartments are heated from the boiler room in Skerlićeva Street in Pljevlja, were informed today that the boiler room will be sealed tomorrow at 12 noon, by order of the environmental inspection.
As announced by the municipal company Grijanje, which manages the city's boiler house, the Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Northern Development - Directorate for Environmental Inspection, delivered to the company on December 29 a notification on the implementation of the decision, which provides for the sealing of the boiler plant of the said boiler house.
The company states that they are forced to act on the inspection's decision and turn off the boilers, bearing in mind the criminal liability that otherwise threatens both the company and the person responsible.
"We are forced to act on the decision and turn off the boilers, in accordance with the criminal liability that threatens the company and the responsible person," the notice states, expressing regret for the consequences that this measure will have on heating service users.
This is not the first time that the closure of the boiler house on Skerlićeva Street has been announced. The same measure was recently scheduled to be implemented, but then the environmental inspector Irena Popović postponed the implementation of the decision, after the gathered citizens and service users, gathered in front of the boiler house, twice did not allow her to enter and implement the decision of the Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Northern Development. This temporarily enabled the continuation of heating for users connected to this boiler house.
The inspector made a report in which she stated that the citizens did not allow entry into the boiler room, and that there were no conditions for implementing the decision. According to the report, the director of "Grijanje" Vlado Tošić was given a legal deadline of 48 hours to present objections to the report.
The Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Northern Development issued an enforcement decision ordering the closure of the boiler room due to exceeding the level of pollutants emitted from the boiler room chimney attached to one of the buildings on Skerlićeva Street.
If the inspection closes the boiler room tomorrow, around 400 apartments in the city center will be left without heating in the middle of winter, as well as a large number of institutions, including the Municipality of Pljevlja, the Assembly building, the Cultural Center, the Basic State Prosecutor's Office, the Basic Court, the Pljevlja Coal Mine, as well as other companies and institutions.
"Grijanje" also warns of the possible technical consequences of an interruption in the supply of heat energy, stating that the system's shutdown could lead to damage to installations, malfunctions and long-term problems, both for users and for the company itself.
