The Police Directorate has spoken out again regarding this morning's intervention in Botun, where locals opposed to the construction of a wastewater treatment plant were protesting.
"As we emphasized in the first official statement, today the officers of the Police Directorate acted in accordance with Article 34 of the Law on Internal Affairs, in providing assistance to the Municipal Police of the Capital City, on which occasion they acted in a professional and extremely tolerant and patient manner, respecting the highest international standards of conduct, in the presence of media representatives and officers of the Department for Internal Control of the Police, the Council for Civilian Control of Police Work, and on this occasion enabled the Municipal Police and competent services to undertake activities within their jurisdiction," the statement reads.
They said that on that occasion, the police used the mildest means of coercion that enabled the execution of their official task, with the maximum degree of sensitivity in their treatment of citizens and exclusively in accordance with the law.
