The municipal team, chaired by the Mayor of Bijelo Polje, Petar Smolović, held an emergency meeting due to the worsening hydro-meteorological situation.
"Due to continuous rainfall and the forecasted rise in the water level of the Lim River and its tributaries in the next three days, the following decisions have been made:
- Introduction of emergency protection: An emergency flood protection regime is being introduced in the territory of the municipality of Bijelo Polje, which implies the introduction of 24/7 duty in all municipal protection and rescue services.
- Mobilization of resources: The entire mechanization of municipal enterprises and private entities has been ordered to be put on standby for urgent intervention at critical points.
- Protection of critical zones: Priority activities of all protection and rescue entities are focused on protecting people and property from floods.
- Monitoring and traffic: The Police Directorate and the competent inspectorates constantly monitor the trafficability of main and regional roads, with readiness to promptly close sections that become risky for traffic.
- Water supply and health: DOO "Vodovod Bistrica" is conducting increased control of the quality of drinking water and the proper functioning of the sewage network, about which the public will be regularly informed," the Municipality said in a statement, appealing to citizens to follow the instructions of the competent services, secure their property and prepare for possible evacuation if necessary.
