The potential for the development of Mojkovac is numerous and significant, and the trend of young people emigrating from that municipality must be stopped, said the President of the State, Jakov Milatović.
He congratulated the Municipality leadership, the local parliament and citizens on January 7th - Municipality Day.
"This January day evokes memories of the courage of the heroes of Mojkovac who, 110 years ago, showed the whole of Europe that on the Montenegrin karst, courage and heart always prevail over sheer force. By pledging their lives on the Mojkovac snow, the heroes once again wrote the name of Montenegro in golden letters into history, and their names into legend. The memory of battles like the one on Mojkovac obliges us to preserve peace. Today, when we live in a time of new challenges and rapid changes, that legacy is even more precious to us. The true strength of a community is not measured only in moments of trial, but also in the ability to build, gather and preserve what is most valuable: coexistence, dignity and faith in a better tomorrow," Milatović announced.
He said that the Tara Valley, surrounded by the peaks of Sinjajevina and Bjelasica, creates a natural amphitheater that "we must exploit, creating an attractive tourist destination". "Mojkovac can be a destination for adventure, winter and rural tourism. Key strategic projects, such as the construction of the Žarski ski center, will bring new value to the local economy, open up space for new jobs and transform the tourist offer."
The fact that every third young person leaves Mojkovac warns and points to the obligation to revitalize the local economy, because jobs guarantee staying, says Milatović.
That is why, he points out, it is important to invest in road infrastructure, agriculture and livestock farming, as well as in other economic sectors that ensure a better quality of life for the residents of Mojkovac.
"Therefore, it is necessary to enter into these goals together, with the cooperation of local self-government, the state and citizens, with a clear vision and responsibility. If we work together, Mojkovac can become a strong, vibrant and recognizable center of northern Montenegro, a city that attracts visitors, but also retains its young people, giving them a reason to stay and create here, in their hearth. In that name, I once again send you my sincere congratulations on the occasion of the Municipality Day, with a sincere wish that the period ahead will be marked by the development and progress of Mojkovac, for the benefit of all its residents," the statement reads.
