In December, police officers implemented 1.775 repressive measures aimed at controlling the movement, residence and work of foreign citizens in Montenegro, within which 228 decisions were made on the return of persons, 129 on the cancellation of residence for up to 90 days and 24 on the expulsion of foreigners.

The Police Directorate announced that members of the border police - inspectors for foreigners, in December conducted 19 independent actions of increased control of the entry, movement, residence and work of foreign citizens in Montenegro, while 31 actions were carried out in cooperation with the competent inspection services.

"As part of these activities, 228 decisions were made on the return of persons, 129 decisions on the cancellation of residence for up to 90 days, 24 decisions on the expulsion of foreign citizens, and 24 foreign citizens were forcibly removed," the statement said.

The police said that 525 initiatives to terminate temporary residence were submitted and seven decisions on more lenient measures were made.

As they stated, the total number of misdemeanor reports filed and misdemeanor warrants issued to foreign citizens was 814.

"During the same period, 13 foreign nationals were placed in the Reception Center for Foreigners. In accordance with agreements on the return and acceptance of persons whose entry or residence is illegal, 24 foreign nationals were handed over to neighboring countries in a summary procedure," the statement said.

It is stated that, since the beginning of last year, 18.864 repressive measures have been taken against foreign citizens as part of the Foreigner operation, while over 730 thousand euros in fines were collected in the same period pursuant to misdemeanor orders.
