The Ministry of Internal Affairs announced that the town of Vranjina represents a critical point during any rise in water levels, given the proximity of residential buildings and the possibility of direct threat to households.
"The Directorate for Protection and Rescue of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, in cooperation with local protection and rescue services, is continuously monitoring the situation on the ground and is ready, in accordance with the development of events, to take all necessary measures to protect the population and property," the Ministry of Internal Affairs announced.
They also published data on the current state of water levels in Montenegro based on information collected from the field and measurements by the Institute for Hydrometeorology and Seismology.
"Measurements taken today at 11 a.m., compared to yesterday's measurements at 6 a.m., show that all water levels are decreasing, except for Lake Skadar where an increase of 24 centimeters was recorded, the Bojana River where an increase of 26 centimeters was recorded, and the Crnojevića River where an increase of 28 centimeters was recorded," the Ministry of Interior announced.
They add that official information from the relevant Albanian institutions is still awaited regarding today's release of water from hydropower systems in Albania.
The level of Lake Skadar was at its maximum in 2010, when it was 588 centimeters, while it is now at 372 centimeters. The maximum water level of Bojana was also in 2010 - 636 centimeters, while it is now 489 centimeters.
