Thanks to serious preparation and coordinated work of all services of the Royal Capital, Cetinje functioned without major difficulties during the days of heavy and continuous rain, even though it is the city with the highest amount of precipitation in Montenegro, announced today the Mayor of the Royal Capital of Cetinje, Nikola Đurašković.
A statement from the Royal Capital of Cetinje states that he made this statement "in connection with the heavy and continuous rainfall that has affected the Royal Capital of Cetinje in recent days, and bearing in mind the needs of citizens and the importance of timely information."
"A series of specific activities were carried out, which included the complete cleaning of vegetation in the bed and surroundings of the eastern branch of the Borovički Canal along Vučedolska Street and the rehabilitation of part of the bed of the canal of the same name. The works also included a thorough cleaning of the canal through the Bojana complex to the inlet into the Borovički potok, which had a direct impact on reducing flooding of Belvederska Street. These interventions represent an important part of the system for channeling and draining storm and flood waters along the entire Borovički Canal to the Research Pit. At the same time, regular maintenance of storm sewers and drains on all city roads enabled unhindered water flow," emphasized Đurašković.
He added that the first phase of the reconstruction of Vučedolska Street is underway, which includes channeling and draining storm and flood waters from the main sinkhole to the Research Tunnel (the future Belvedere hydrotechnical tunnel).
"In this way, a permanent and systematic solution to the problem of flooding in Cetinje has begun, through planned and coordinated infrastructure projects that replace the previous temporary and insufficient solutions. We continue to work for Cetinje, convinced that serious and responsible work achieves lasting results," said Đurašković.
