Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople, aiming to deal a blow to the Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC), intends to grant autocephaly to the unrecognized "Montenegrin Orthodox Church" (CPC), according to a statement from the press office of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR), reported today by the Russian news agency Tass.
"The aggressive appetites of the 'Constantinople Antichrist' are not limited to Ukraine and the Baltics, but are gradually covering the countries of Eastern Europe with their cunning. In order to deal a blow to the 'particularly recalcitrant' Serbian Orthodox Church, he intends to grant autocephaly to the unrecognized 'Montenegrin Orthodox Church,'" the statement from the Russian SVR states.
The Tass text states that the Russian SVR also drew attention to the attitude of church circles towards the activities carried out by Bartholomew, which are assessed as "tearing the living body of the Church."
"In this way, he is likened to the false prophets spoken of in the Sermon on the Mount: 'They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves... By their fruits you will know them,'" added the Russian SVR.
