A new specialized vehicle for the Protection and Rescue Service (PRS) of the Capital City, which the Capital City purchased for 1,1 million euros, was ceremonially unveiled today.
The commander of the Podgorica Protection and Rescue Service, Nikola Bojanović, said that "today is a big day for the Capital, the SZŠ and the citizens of Podgorica."
The ladder truck, he says, is the first vehicle of its kind in the Service, and it will be used in complex field interventions.
"For the first time, our service is receiving a ladder truck, a special vehicle for working at a height of 32 meters. The vehicle is a Mercedes, and the purchase value is 1,1 million euros, but its value is measured in lives saved. The vehicle can be used in multiple interventions," said Bojanović.
He stressed that the ladder can be used as a "bridge in life-saving cases," adding that multiple people can be accommodated in the rescue basket.
The Mayor of Podgorica, Saša Mujović, emphasized that he was very pleased to be at the presentation of the first vehicle of the Protection and Rescue Service.
He also said that this is one of the "more beautiful pictures" being sent from Podgorica, adding that the purchase of the ladder truck is an indication that the city administration has not forgotten the firefighters.
Mujović pointed out that the capital budget for the Protection and Rescue Service is 1,7 million euros, and that the ladder cost 1,1 million.
He revealed that the Service will hire five more firefighters-rescuers during the year and added that he is "doing everything to make the SZŠ strong and equipped."
