The Health Institution of Pharmacy of Montenegro (ZUACG) Montefarm announced today that, in cooperation with the Ministry of Health, it has opened a new modern pharmacy in Sutomore, in the immediate vicinity of the Health Center and at the very beginning of the promenade.
According to them, the opening of this pharmacy has solved a long-standing problem for the citizens of Sutomore and surrounding settlements, who, after the closure of the state pharmacy in 2018, were deprived of the opportunity to pick up prescription medications in their town within the public healthcare system.
"During that period, residents were forced to seek medical care in other places, which made the daily lives of the elderly, chronically ill, and socially vulnerable categories particularly difficult, especially during the tourist season," the statement said.
Minister of Health Vojislav Šimun emphasized that the opening of a pharmacy in Sutomore is of particular importance for the Montenegrin healthcare system.
"The opening of a state pharmacy in Sutomore is a strong message that the healthcare system must be accessible to every citizen, regardless of their place of residence. After the pharmacy in this town was closed in 2018, citizens were forced to pick up prescription medications outside their town for years. Today we are showing that the state recognizes and solves such problems," he said.
The Director of Montefarm, Aleksandar Bogavac, emphasized that the new pharmacy represents an important step forward in strengthening the public pharmaceutical system.
"By opening the Montefarm pharmacy in Sutomore, we are fulfilling one of the key obligations of the public pharmaceutical system - to provide citizens with accessible, safe and high-quality pharmaceutical healthcare services. Since 2018, the residents of Sutomore have been without a state pharmacy for years, and today they are once again able to exercise their right to prescription medications in their town, with the professional support of our pharmacists and work in accordance with the highest professional standards," Bogavac pointed out.
According to Montefarm, the pharmacy will be open on weekdays from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., while during the summer tourist season, working hours will be adjusted to the needs of citizens and the increased number of users.
"It is equipped in accordance with modern standards and guidelines for good pharmacy practice, with expert and professional staff who will provide safe and quality pharmaceutical healthcare services. For all additional information, contact the pharmacy at: 067 148 444. The Ministry of Health and Montefarm will continue with activities aimed at strengthening the network of state pharmacies and improving the availability of medicines, with the aim of making public pharmaceutical healthcare equally accessible to all citizens," the statement concludes.
