The Montenegrin aviation authority is committed to improving the safety and security system in air traffic, said the German Ambassador to Montenegro Peter Felten and the Director of the Civil Aviation Agency (CAA) Ivan Šćekić.
The meeting discussed deepening cooperation in strengthening the expert capacities of the Agency, and specifically the possibility of support regarding the digitalization of certain processes, with the aim of further improving the supervisory function of the CAA.
"The achievements in Chapter 14 - Transport Policy were discussed, especially in the part of the CAA's competence, with the aim of closing an important chapter on Montenegro's path to membership in the European Union (EU) as soon as possible," the CAA statement said.
In this context, the interlocutors agree that the future Law on Air Transport, which is in the process of being processed by the competent institutions, should maintain the organizational, personnel and financial independence of the Agency.
"It is important to maintain the role of the CAA as an independent regulator and supervisory authority, in the interest of strengthening the safety and security of air traffic," stated Felten and Šćekić.
Šćekić also informed Felten about the activities and results of the CAA, as well as successful inspection missions, the most recent of which were by the EU Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) in the areas of aviation personnel licensing and issuing medical certificates, and by the European Commission (EC) in the field of safety.
Šćekić, with associate Magdalena Vukčević, thanked Felten and his associates for their hospitality, saying that the CAA remains a reliable partner to European and international partners.
