The residents of Botuni blocked the roundabout towards Nikšić and Cetinje for several hours today, as well as the Podgorica - Bar road in the town of Bistrica.

The Police Department announced that traffic was restored at 5:50 p.m.

Also, residents of the Zagorič Forest Park in Podgorica blocked the roundabout at Zlatica, at the entrance to the highway, for half an hour, between 3 and 3:30 p.m.

The residents of Botuni are opposing the construction of a wastewater treatment plant in the settlement, and yesterday the Podgorica - Bar railway was blocked.

An incident occurred during today's protest.

Residents of the Zagorič Forest Park protested today again because, as they previously stated, the high interest rates the state charged them for paying for state-owned plots of land on which they built houses about 20 years ago.

They announced yesterday that they will block the roundabout at Zlatica for half an hour in the coming days, from 3 to 3:30 p.m.

They say they will report the blockages.

Bojan Terzić, a resident of the village of Srpska in Zeta, said that the protests of the residents of Botun will continue and expand, and that the plan is to block all entrances and roads, not only in Podgorica and Zeta, but throughout Montenegro.

He said that the locals are in talks with the Police Department and that they will report future blockades so that citizens can better organize themselves.

"We have had discussions with the Police Directorate and we will work to ensure that protests are announced in the coming period, because they really affect the daily lives of citizens, but we have no other way to express our dissatisfaction and you must understand us," said Terzić.

Commenting on the statement from the Police Directorate stating that unannounced blockades threaten the safety, rights and freedoms of citizens, Terzić said that the locals are not endangering anyone and are not causing riots.

"We are not touching anyone, nor are we a threat to anyone. If there is a recording of any incident, let it be published. Let the recording be published showing our fellow citizen's car being broken into with a hammer and people with stones appearing among us. The question is whether we are causing the riots or are these elements inserted," he said.

Terzić said that locals are demanding the withdrawal of machinery from the construction site of the plant in Botun and called on the contractor to stop the work.

"We call on the contractor to withdraw the machines from our territory. None of us would work in another city if the citizens of that city are against it. This is not a humane act," said Terzić.

He reiterated that the locals will not withdraw from the protest until their demands are met.

"The blockades continue. All exits from Podgorica, Zeta and beyond will be blocked. We will not move a millimeter until a solution is reached. We make all decisions together and will continue communication with the Police Directorate, which has been correct so far in terms of its actions on the ground," Terzić concluded.
