Božović: We sent a draft annex to the contract to Komunalni "Zeta" on waste disposal at the landfill in Tuzi

The new information comes after several days of exchange of accusations between the leaders of the Municipality of Zeta and "Deponija" regarding whether the people of Zeta were prevented from disposing of municipal waste, or whether the problem arose due to the expiration of the contract and its (non)extension.

The director of Podgorica's "Deponija" Aleksandar Božović confirmed to "Vijesti" that a draft annex to the contract on the disposal of municipal waste at the landfill in Tuzi was sent to the Zeta utility company, so that it could be checked, signed and returned.

The new information comes after an exchange of accusations between the leaders of the Municipality of Zeta and "Deponija" regarding whether the people of Zeta were prevented from disposing of municipal waste, or whether the problem arose due to the expiration of the contract and its (non)extension.

The President of the Municipality of Zeta, Mihailo Asanović, previously announced that he had been informed by the Mayor of Podgorica, Saša Mujović, and the director of "Deponija" that Zeta would no longer be able to dispose of waste at the landfill in Tuzi, although, as he stated, the municipality regularly pays its obligations and has no debts. He also said that Zeta allocates around 20.000 euros per month for waste disposal, at a price of 26 euros per ton, and that the current contract expired the previous day, noting that such contracts are usually extended for three or six months.

Asanović also claimed that the director of the "Deponija" informed the executive director of the "Zeta" utility company, Rajka Pantović, about the decision to no longer accept waste from the territory of Zeta, and that if the problem is not resolved, Zeta will be forced to transport the waste to Bar, which would mean additional costs.

Božović then denied that anyone had banned the disposal of waste in Zećani, stating that it was possible that there had been a misunderstanding in communication within the Zeta Utility Company, and said that he would not comment further on the subject.

Pantović from the Zeta Utility Company reacted, claiming that Božović's statement distracts attention from the essence - the impossibility of disposing of waste due to the non-renewal of the contract.

She stated that Deponija explained the delay in signing the contract by not receiving the consent of Mayor Mujović, and that it is enough to look at the dates of official letters and requests from the Zeta utility company for the extension of the contract and the period that, as she claims, passed without a specific written response.

Pantović also stated that as executive director, she has an obligation to ensure the continuity of the public service, emphasizing that without a valid contract, employees and citizens must not be put in a situation where they have to worry every day whether trucks with waste will be accepted at the landfill. She added that she is ready to have the truth of her allegations verified, and even to resign if it turns out that she was not telling the truth.
