The Municipality of Tivat has begun fulfilling the obligations prescribed by the recently amended Law on Olive Growing and Olive Oil, which, among other things, introduced the obligation to maintain a Register of Olive Trees by local governments.
Therefore, the Tivat city administration invited local olive growers to register their trees in the new registry.
"In order to establish up-to-date and accurate records, the Municipality of Tivat informs all owners and users of olive groves that they are obliged to register their olive trees in the Olive Tree Register. Application forms are available on the official website of the Municipality of Tivat, as well as from the competent authority for agricultural affairs. During registration, each olive tree will be recorded and in the following period it will be assigned a unique identification number, which will have to be permanently and visibly displayed on the tree," the Municipality announced.
They stated that entry into the Register "represents an important step in improving the records of olive plantations, preserving the olive growing tradition, as well as planning measures to support and develop olive growing in the municipality."
