The Mayor of Podgorica, Saša Mujović, and his associates visited the settlements of Zagorič and Stari Aerodrom, where work is underway at several locations to improve traffic infrastructure and increase the safety of all traffic participants.
He emphasized that the good pace of work established during the previous year has continued this year, the Capital City announced, adding that the city administration remains strongly committed to the balanced development of all parts of Podgorica.
"I am glad that we have continued the good pace that we set in 2025 in 2026 and that we are intensively developing all parts of Podgorica. Today we are in Piperska Street in Zagorič, where work has begun on the rehabilitation of this very important road, about one kilometer long. We are also planning several more interventions in this part of the city, and today work begins on the reconstruction of Iva Andrića Street, which is also in very poor condition," said Mujović.
The Mayor of Podgorica also announced additional infrastructure works in this part of the city on two more streets that abut Nikola Tesla Street, and pointed out that the long-awaited reconstruction of Branka Ćopića Street will begin in the coming period, for which a building permit is expected to be obtained soon, according to a statement from the Capital City.
"In addition to Zagorič, work began today on the reconstruction of Radovan Zogović Street at the Old Airport, while the rehabilitation of Spasa Nikolić Street in the Old Town is planned in the coming period, as well as work on Zabjelo, in Ksenije Cicvarić and Iva Vizina streets, where there are burdens in the form of expropriation, but these are priority streets where we will start with urgent interventions," said Mujović.
He reminded that tenders are underway by the Agency for Construction and Development of Podgorica for the selection of contractors for works worth a total of almost 4,6 million euros.
"Podgorica is a large construction site. We have a lot of work, plans, ambitions and energy, and when it comes to road infrastructure, all the capacities of the city company Putevi and the Agency for Construction and Development of Podgorica are in full operation. Our goal is for every part of the city to develop evenly and I believe that we will successfully complete the projects we have started," said the mayor.
Zečević: The capital recognized the need for Putevi to have its own quarry
The director of the city company Putevi doo Radoš Zečević emphasized that this company will continue to be maximally engaged in improving road infrastructure in 2026.
"In addition to the aforementioned streets, we will also work on the rehabilitation of Bratonožićka Street, where a new public transport line will be introduced. This is a settlement that is continuously expanding and I believe that citizens will be satisfied. In accordance with weather conditions, we will strive to meet all deadlines," he said, adding that Putevi has modern equipment and machinery, and that this year they will begin the procedure for purchasing a new machine for repairing potholes on site, which will further improve work efficiency.
Speaking about the quarry operation facility, Zečević pointed out that the Capital City recognized the need for the Putevi company to have its own quarry.
"We have entered into a project in the Sjenica region, at a location near Ubli, which was selected by the profession and in whose vicinity there are no facilities. Public procurement has been carried out, the best offer has been selected, and the purchase is expected to be completed in mid-February. All necessary preparatory work will be carried out, as well as an environmental impact study, in accordance with applicable procedures," he concluded.
