The Oktoih Award, the highest state recognition in the field of education, was presented today to Biljana Rovčanin, a physics teacher at the "Vuk Karadžić" Elementary School in Podgorica.

The award was presented at a ceremony at Villa Gorica by the Minister of Education, Science and Innovation, Anđela Jakšić Stojanović.

Jakšić Stojanović, as announced by the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation, congratulated Rovčanin on the significant recognition.

She said that she is certain that the award for Rovčanin is not only a confirmation of her work so far, but also a strong incentive for new successes, as well as an inspiration for young people to follow in her footsteps.

"With the desire to shape new generations of great educators together, who will be the foundation of the Montenegrin education system, I congratulate you from the bottom of my heart. Because a society that respects its teachers builds a future with secure foundations - and Montenegro has someone to rely on," said Jakšić Stojanović.

The president of the jury for the award, Miljan Bigović, said that Rovčanin's work was given the highest grade by the competent institutions.

This assessment, as he stated, is a confirmation of many years of dedicated and responsible work, as well as the consistent cultivation of high professional standards.

"The mission of a physics teacher is not just to transfer knowledge, but to awaken curiosity and courage to ask questions about the world. As a teacher, Biljana Rovčanin stands out for her exceptional dedication to her students. She recognizes their talents, continuously encourages them and guides them towards achieving exceptional results," Bigović emphasized.

Rovčanin said that it is a great honor and responsibility to be the recipient of the highest state recognition in the field of education.

"I see this recognition as extremely important, especially since it is being awarded in a year of strong reform processes and significant investments in the education system of Montenegro, which confirm the state's commitment to making education one of its key priorities," said Rovčanin.

She said that she also sees the award as confirmation of the importance and social responsibility of the teaching profession.

"Being a teacher means permanently believing in education as the foundation of development, but also in the child as the bearer of that development - in his or her abilities, potential and right to opportunity," emphasized Rovčanin.

The Oktoih State Award was established in 1970 and is awarded to a citizen of Montenegro or a legal entity headquartered in the territory of Montenegro, for exceptional results in the field of education and upbringing, as well as student standards.

So far, 147 individuals and 65 institutions have received this award.
