Personalized pharmacy is becoming a new standard in Montenegro, and an important step for the healthcare system is establishing clear standards in the development of generic drugs, said Minister of Health Vojislav Šimun.

As announced by the relevant ministry, Šimun discussed current and future activities aimed at improving pharmaceutical healthcare in Montenegro with the President of the Pharmaceutical Chamber, Milanka Žugić.

Šimun said that the development of personalized pharmacy and the establishment of clear and high standards in the development of prescription drugs represent an important step forward for the Montenegrin healthcare system.

"The Ministry of Health recognizes the Pharmaceutical Chamber as a strong partner in these processes and we will continue cooperation on projects that directly contribute to better and safer healthcare for our citizens," said Šimun.

Žugić presented plans for organizing the symposium "Personalized Pharmacy: From Magistral Solutions to Clinical Support", which will be held from February 6 to 8 in Budva.

She said that the symposium will bring together eminent domestic and international lecturers, and the presentation of Montenegrin magistral formulas, which are being issued in Montenegro for the first time, will attract special attention from the professional public.

"Formulae magistrales represent an indispensable professional guide for the preparation of magistral medicines in pharmacies and are one of the foundations of traditional and modern pharmaceutical activity," the statement says.

As it is added, a team of experts - pharmacists from Montenegro, including representatives of the Ministry of Health, participated in the preparation of this edition, which further ensured the professional and institutional relevance of the publication.

The press release states that the publication, in addition to monographs of magistral drugs, also contains general chapters of importance for the standardization of the preparation, storage and dispensing of magistral preparations.

The Ministry emphasized that it is particularly significant that this edition implements for the first time in Montenegro the key principles of the Council of Europe Resolution CM/Res (2016), thus further harmonizing national practice and legislation with European standards in the field of quality and safety of generic medicines.
