The completion of the tender for the execution of works to equip the Oncology Day Hospital in Bijelo Polje, whose value is 270.000 euros excluding VAT, is expected by the end of February.

The tender was announced at the beginning of the year by the Ministry of Public Works in cooperation with the Ministry of Health, and the project will enable patients from the north, who do not require hospitalization, to receive therapy and medical care during the day, with constant supervision by doctors and medical staff.

This will allow citizens of Bijelo Polje and surrounding towns to receive more accessible healthcare services without having to travel to Podgorica.

Director of the Bijelo Polje General Hospital, Dr. Kenan Erovic He told "Vijesti" that this is the first oncology day hospital in Montenegro, when it comes to maternity hospitals, because it currently only exists at the oncology clinic of the Clinical Center.

"Our goal is for the Oncology Day Hospital to be fully functional by the end of July this year," said Erović.

He emphasized the importance of this hospital, which will reduce the need for long-term hospitalizations.

"This means less burden for patients and their families, shorter hospital stays, better quality of life and more efficient healthcare. It is especially important that the need to travel to clinical centers outside our city will be reduced," said Erović.

The Bijelo Polje hospital, which has flourished in recent years under Erović's management, already has experience in a multidisciplinary approach to treatment.

"Our hospital already has an oncology council, which brings together doctors from different specialties to jointly make decisions about therapy for each individual patient. We also have a hearing aid council, which shows that we have been applying a team and modern approach to the treatment and rehabilitation of patients for years," noted Dr. Erović.

With the opening of the day hospital, Dr. Erović pointed out, the work of the oncology council will be further strengthened.

"The council will have better conditions to monitor the course of therapy, adjust it according to the needs of patients and ensure continuity of treatment at the local level, which is of utmost importance for the success of therapy," he said.

In this way, the director of the health institution concluded, it continues to develop in accordance with the needs of citizens.

"The opening of the oncology day hospital represents a major step forward in the treatment of malignant diseases in northern Montenegro and is proof of our commitment to improving healthcare and the quality of life of our patients," said Erović.
