The Government of Montenegro has approved the deployment of physical security in 112 primary and secondary schools and one student dormitory, the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation (MESI) announced today.
"At its session held on January 22, 2026, the Government of Montenegro adopted the Information on the need to establish physical security for persons, facilities and property in educational institutions, prepared by the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation, thus continuing the practice of engaging physical security in educational institutions across the country according to a model that has previously proven effective," the statement said.
The Ministry of Education and Science added that in order to prevent and stop violence and other unwanted events, and given the increasingly frequent cases of physical violence in schools and student dormitories, the Government has approved the deployment of physical security in 68 primary schools, 44 secondary schools and one student dormitory.
"Physical security will be deployed from February 1 to June 15, 2026, until a systemic solution is established that involves the deployment of school police officers or another form of security, in cooperation with the Ministry of Internal Affairs. This is a temporary measure aimed at protecting children and employees and contributing to the creation of a safe and stable environment for the implementation of the educational process," the Ministry of Education and Science said.
