The spectacular drone show that suffered a fiasco on New Year's Eve, when more than 200 drones crashed and were damaged, will still be performed at one of the key events organized by the Budva Tourist Organization this year.
This was confirmed to "Vijesti" by the richest local tourist organization.
"The same practice will be applied as for all previous events, which could not be held due to force majeure. A date will be agreed upon that suits both parties," they told "Vijesti" in the Budva TO.
The tourist organization and the Croatian company "Mirnovec Pirotehnika" concluded a contract that envisaged an unprecedented drone show in the sky on New Year's Eve, followed by fireworks, but the planned drone show ended ingloriously.
Owner of the Croatian company “Mirnovec pirotehnika” Frano Koletic He told "Vijesti" that it is still too early to say, but that an agreement will be made with the Budva Tourist Organization when the drone show will be performed.
He asked which global company engaged in this activity would come to Montenegro to hold a drone show and risk its equipment worth millions.
The Budva TO said that the new contract will specify all the details, including the possibility of hiring observers to monitor the implementation of the drone show, in order to avoid any potential new incidents.
Considering that one of the biggest events organized by TO Budva this year is the opening ceremony of the summer season, it is possible that a drone show will be organized for that very event. Many singers who have been engaged for one of the events in previous years, such as Dean Merlin, whose performance was canceled due to the tragedy in Cetinje, were hired for another event.
"Vijesti" announced that there are strong technical indicators that the drones planned for the New Year's light show in Budva were deliberately shot down, because in the zone where they were placed, a device/system that interferes with satellite navigation (GNSS/GPS) was active for a short time, either intentionally or as part of some RF protection (anti-drone/GNSS denial).
This was stated in a report prepared by an American company, a manufacturer of unmanned aerial vehicles, which, as Koletić told "Vijesti", was also accepted by Montenegrin investigators.
In an earlier interview with "Vijesti", Koletić categorically claimed that the drones were deliberately shot down with an anti-drone jammer, a "gun" that uses an electromagnetic beam, and which is usually owned by the police, military or secret services.
The Kotor Prosecutor's Office, as well as the Police Directorate, did not want to reveal whether they had received the report from foreign experts.
The drone show on New Year's Eve, organized by the Budva Tourist Organization, ended in a fiasco. About fifteen seconds after the planned launch of 600 drones from the plateau in front of the Port Authority began, they began to return to the plateau and fall into the sea. Some of them collided with other drones that were taking off, until, about 40 seconds later, the operator stopped the launch. The drones fell for another twenty seconds.
The Kotor Basic State Prosecutor's Office is still determining whether someone intentionally shot down the drones during the drone light show that was interrupted after about eighty seconds in the sky above the Old Town in Budva at midnight on New Year's Eve, or whether the drones fell due to interference from other frequencies in the area.
Over 200 drones were damaged, and the Croatian company suffered enormous damage.
President of the Municipality of Budva Nikola Jovanovic He said that Budva "hurts many" in a political sense and that the answer to the question of why the drones fell should be sought precisely in that fact, assessing that it was an act of sabotage and terrorism, because the incident could have led to serious injuries or even death.
