The Budva utility company paid one million euros for the disposal of 33 tons of various waste in sanitary landfills, which it collected last year.
This is stated in the annual report on the work of the municipal company.
The trucks of the Public Utility Company, which emptied containers five times during the peak summer season at key locations in the tourist metropolis, were also forced to do so outside Budva to sanitary landfills, during the busiest traffic hours.
"Collected municipal waste was regularly transported and disposed of at waste disposal landfills. Around 33.000 tons of various waste were transported to landfills, in accordance with applicable regulations and contractual obligations, while keeping records of the quantities of collected and transported waste, which cost around one million euros," Vijesti was told by the Municipal Company, which it has managed since July. Marija Jovićević.
During 2025, the Cleaning sector, as stated by this municipal company, carried out regular cleaning of all urban and suburban areas, in accordance with the planned dynamics and available capacities.
"Special attention was paid to maintaining public hygiene in areas with increased frequency of citizens and tourists. Street washing was carried out on all trafficked roads with higher frequency where access was provided to specialized vehicles - street washing tanks. Street washing activities were carried out with the aim of improving hygiene and traffic safety.
The utility also cleaned and washed public areas in the coastal zone, which ensured the preservation of hygiene and the ambient value of the coastal area, the utility points out, adding that the planning and implementation of activities in 2025 were carried out based on the Work Program of the Cleaning Sector, while at the behest of the Municipality of Budva as the founder, additional cleaning and washing tasks of public areas that were not included in the work program were also carried out, in accordance with the needs in the field.
"It is noted that the volume of work, as well as the amount of waste collected and transported to landfills, is increasing year by year, which is a consequence of the increased number of inhabitants, the intensive tourist season and the expansion of urban and suburban areas. The Budva utility company is continuously adjusting its capacities to respond to growing needs and ensure the smooth provision of utility services," the municipal company emphasizes.
The workers in the Green sector also had their hands full last year.
"When it comes to the Greenery sector, the total works during 2025 amounted to around 615.000 euros. In addition to regular maintenance of the entire territory of the Budva municipality, around 15.000 pieces of seasonal winter and summer flowers were planted, as well as a tree line at the Boljačin do parking lot. 75 new benches were installed. We arranged flower pots and supplemented them with tree seedlings around the Academy of Knowledge, in the new park under the post office, around the new kindergarten in the Bip settlement, pots with olive trees were placed and green islands were arranged in Mediteranska. Humus soil was added to several locations," they point out in the Municipal Department.
As "Vijesti" reported on the eve of the New Year, Director Jovićević announced at the time that as of January 1, 2026, the price of services at the Možura regional landfill will be increased by about 30 percent.
"The harmonization of utility prices will be carried out due to the need to define them in the manner and according to the methodology prescribed by the Amendment to the Regulation adopted by the Government of Montenegro in August of this year, since certain provisions of the previous Regulation were repealed by the decision of the Constitutional Court. The pricing policy will follow the needs of the Company to improve the way of providing utility services while maintaining a responsible attitude towards citizens and the economy, including in the area of price formation. We are witnessing an increase in the prices of fuel, oil and lubricants, and an increase in gross wages," said Jovićević at the time.
The price list for utility services in Budva, as she explained, underwent changes during the coronavirus pandemic when prices per square meter were reduced by about 10 percent, and have not changed to this day.
"When we talk about the price of garbage collection for individuals, it is among the lowest in the country in Budva and Ulcinj, at six cents per square meter. I would like to emphasize that other coastal municipalities have a price of 9 to 15 cents per square meter," Jovićević pointed out.
