The Ministry of Spatial Planning, Urbanism and State Property Inspection has ordered the demolition of the "Blue Building" in Herceg Novi in order to protect the safety of the population, the ministry announced today.
"Regarding the complaint filed by the tenants of the 'Blue Building' on Orjenski Bataljon Street in Herceg Novi, the inspection of the Ministry of Spatial Planning, Urbanism and State Property (Chief Construction Inspector Novak Lakušić and Construction Inspector Zdravko Vlahović) carried out an on-site inspection on the same day, January 24, 2026, and determined that the safety of the tenants and the environment was endangered in the facility, and based on the established facts, and in accordance with the Law on Inspection Supervision, adopted a measure prohibiting the use of part of the facility with immediate effect," the statement states.
The Ministry of Spatial Planning, Urbanism and State Property, headed by Slaven Radunović, added that the facility has been sealed and that the prescribed tape and sign have been placed on it.
"Given that, due to dilapidation, significant damage and impaired structural stability, it poses a danger to people's lives, neighboring buildings and the environment, the inspection has ordered the demolition of part of the building in question, which contains 32 residential units. The order will be implemented by the executive service of DOO 'Zaštita prostora Crne Gore', and the apartment owners are required to leave the building and remove their belongings and equipment from it beforehand," the Ministry of Spatial Planning, Urbanism and State Property said.
They also announced that the construction inspection officially notified the Office of the President of the Municipality of Herceg Novi, as well as the Herceg Novi Municipal Inspection, about the determined situation, in order to take measures and actions within their jurisdiction, especially in terms of restricting access to the object in question and its surroundings, as well as ensuring the implementation of the ordered measures.
"The Ministry of Spatial Planning, Urbanism and State Property confirms in this case that the public interest and safety of citizens are its absolute priority," the statement reads.
