The former security advisor to the President of Montenegro, Dejan Vukšić, announced today that he had nothing to do with the creation, possession or distribution of the MP recordings that have appeared in public.
"Starting from a clear, documented and verifiable chronology of events, I reject all inaccurate, incomplete and tendentious allegations that attempt to attribute responsibility to me without evidence for violating MP's privacy and distributing the disputed footage, and I consider it my obligation to present only the facts to the public. I have nothing to do with the creation, possession or distribution of the footage that has appeared in public. I first saw this content only when it began to circulate illegally on social networks," Vukšić said in a statement.
According to him, the event that is being presented as current these days occurred in October 2024 in Podgorica, when, as he said, the Ministry of Justice illegally confiscated his mobile phone, which was then misused, thus "grossly violating his privacy."
"The competent authorities have information about this event. I emphasize that I did not make any public statements on this occasion, leaving the case exclusively to the institutional epilogue. The words I addressed to the MP on that occasion, which were selectively published with a time gap of one year and three months, were an immediate reaction to the theft and misuse of my phone. Those words, regardless of their content, do not represent and cannot represent evidence of any criminal offense related to the creation or distribution of photos and videos on social networks, because these are completely separate legal issues. Despite this, today there is a conscious attempt to switch theses, in which I, as the injured party, try to present myself as the perpetrator of the criminal offense, and the person who acted illegally, i.e. stole the phone, as the victim," Vukšić pointed out.
He said that in March 2025, he received "disturbing messages" from an unknown number with the aforementioned audio recording of his voice, with a clear threat and attempt to blackmail him into giving up his candidacy for Constitutional Court judge, which, as he said, he understood as a message that the audio recording would be published if he did not follow "instructions".
"I believe that MP in this way, directly or indirectly, alone or through persons to whom she enabled the use of the content from her phone, attempted to exert unauthorized influence on the procedure for the election of a judge of the Constitutional Court. On this occasion, I filed a report with the Police Directorate against MP and an unidentified person for attempted blackmail, theft and misuse of the phone, for which MP was questioned. Even after all of the above, MP contacted me by phone stating that I needed to 'finish something for her', or rather, to 'make amends' for the audio recording that was made solely as a result of MP's theft of my phone. My deep personal feeling was that this type of call could only have related to the person in question's attempt to use my influence in the function of her nomination for the position of Ombudsman and a new attempt at blackmail. I declined the invitation to the meeting. I submitted evidence of the above to the police," he said.
Vukšić added that at the end of December 2025, the MP filed a complaint against him, submitting the same audio recording and "creating the false impression that it was a recent event, concealing the fact that the event had occurred more than a year ago and that she had already been questioned about attempted blackmail regarding the same audio recording."
"I emphasize once again the fact that the content is being made public with a significant time gap and at a precisely defined socio-political moment - the election of a judge of the Constitutional Court and the election of the Ombudsman, which further confirms that this is not about protecting anyone's rights, but exclusively about an attempt to discredit me personally. In January 2026, I submitted additional material evidence to the Police Directorate, then filed a complaint against the MP for false reporting in connection with the distribution of controversial photos and videos on social networks and insisted on a polygraph test," said Vukšić.
He stressed that he publicly and unequivocally states that he is ready to immediately undergo these and any other types of verification and fact-finding, and called on the competent authorities to conduct them without delay, calling for all persons involved in this case to undergo the same tests.
"In order to protect my personal integrity and the safety of my family, I will file reports and initiate proceedings against all persons who have falsely accused me, threatened me, insulted me and called for a lynching via social media, including against the MP in the Parliament of Montenegro who publicly labeled me a 'thug', and appropriate court proceedings for compensation for damages will follow. The truth in this case will not be established on social media or in the media, but exclusively before the competent institutions. I am ready for such an outcome and I insist on it," Vukšić concluded.
