The Ministry of Diaspora has issued a public call for diaspora - emigrant organizations to nominate candidates for members of the Council for Cooperation with the Diaspora.
The Ministry announced that the aim of the public call is to strengthen institutional cooperation with the diaspora - emigrants, improve mutual communication, as well as include diaspora representatives in the processes of creating and implementing policies of importance to the diaspora and the home country.
As stated by the Ministry, the right to nominate candidates is reserved for the most active diaspora - emigrant organizations, that is, those with the largest number of members operating in the territory of the country for which the selection is being made.
"When nominating representatives to the Council, authorized nominators will take into account the proportional representation of members of minority nations and other minority national communities and gender-balanced representation," the statement says.
The mandate of the Council, as stated by the Ministry, lasts four years and the same person can be elected as a member a maximum of two times.
"Applications are submitted exclusively through the electronic platform of the Ministry of Diaspora, which was established to facilitate and make applications more efficient, as well as to ensure complete transparency of all public calls and competitions conducted by the Ministry of Diaspora," the government department said.

The deadline for submitting candidate proposals is 15 days from the date of publication of the public call, i.e. no later than February 13th by 15 p.m. European time.
The Ministry invited all interested diaspora - emigrant organizations to submit their proposals within the stipulated deadline and thus contribute to the work of the Council and the strengthening of ties between the diaspora and the home country.

The Council for Cooperation with the Diaspora is an advisory body to the Government, whose tasks include, among other things, considering the implementation of strategies and laws related to issues of interest to the diaspora and initiating activities related to the preservation of the languages, cultures and traditions of the diaspora - emigrants, and economic, scientific and sports cooperation of the diaspora with Montenegro.
"As well as strengthening unity and belonging to Montenegro, the position and rights of the diaspora - emigrants in Montenegro and host countries, organizing the diaspora - emigrants, informing and connecting," the Ministry's statement added.
