The Board of Directors of the University of Montenegro (UCG) has decided to change the name of the Faculty of Metallurgy and Technology to the Faculty of Technology.
This was announced today from UCG.
"Vijesti" announced on January 27 that the future Faculty of Technology of the University of Montenegro will most likely enroll the first generation of freshmen in new academic study programs in June - Food and Bioprocess Engineering, Technological Engineering, and Environment and Sustainable Development, and that this is not a new state university unit, but rather an innovation of the program of the Faculty of Metallurgy and Technology (MTF), which plans to abolish enrollment in metallurgy studies after it receives the necessary approvals for the operation of new study programs.
"At the XL session of the VI convocation of the Governing Board of the University of Montenegro, held on January 29, 2026 at the Rectorate, chaired by Prof. Dr. Milivoje Radović, financial and personnel issues were discussed, including the financial report for 2025, as well as the determination of the public procurement plan for 2026 in order to carry out the current activities and activities of the University. A decision was made to change the name of the Faculty of Metallurgy and Technology to the Faculty of Technology of the University of Montenegro, which further emphasizes its broader academic profile and strategic development of study programs, including the fields of technology, engineering and sustainable development," the UCG statement published on the institution's website states.
The University of Montenegro added that decisions were made at the session on the obligation of annual reporting for market and national scientific research projects, which, they said, strengthens transparency and responsible project management.
"Also, student initiatives were considered for support to ensure the sustainability of the 'Summer Job 2026' and 'Open Doors Day' projects, which contribute to practical engagement and support for students. The Board of Directors assessed that the issues considered and decisions made have a significant impact on the quality of work and the improvement of development processes at the University of Montenegro," said the UCG.
