The Mayor of the Municipality of Pljevlja, Dario Vraneš, announced the initial departures, departure times and a list of stations on his Instagram profile, stating that "the introduction of public transport is an important step towards better organization of traffic and facilitating the daily obligations of citizens."
According to the published schedule, the departure times of public transport are at 6:30, 7:00, 7:30, 8:00, 9:00, 10:00, 11:00, 12:00, 13:00, 14:00, 14:30, 15:00, 15:30, 16:00, 17:00, 18:00, 19:00, 20:00 and 20:30.
Public transport will stop at a total of 19 stops, including the Elementary School in Guke, the Military Gas Station, Apollon, Ambulance, Jalija, Pljevlja Municipality, Vukova Česma, Gymnasium, Hotel Tara, Fire Station, "Boško Buha" Elementary School, Old Veterinary Station, Customs Terminal, Golubović House, Jestrovića Intersection, Elementary School in Komina, Crnagoraput Intersection, Živković House and Židovići Bakery.
The Municipality says that this is the initial phase of the functioning of public transport and that, in accordance with the needs of citizens, possible changes and improvements to the system will be considered.
For the needs of public transportation, the Municipality purchased five Mercedes minibuses with 4x4 drive, for which 175.000 euros were spent.
It was previously announced that the transport would begin operating on September 1st, but that deadline was extended due to delays caused by tender procedures during the procurement of vehicles.
Transportation will be organized as a separate working unit within the municipal company Local Roads, which guarantees institutional support and its stable functioning.
Two minibuses will operate in the city, and the others will operate in the villages.
According to unofficial information, initially transportation will be free for all citizens.
The decision to establish public transportation, according to the local administration, comes at a time when taxi prices in Pljevlja are among the highest in the region.
"In May last year, we also rented adequate space for vehicle accommodation and maintenance because the Municipality did not have adequate conditions for this and we believe that this is a temporary solution. We expect that the state will help us build adequate facilities for vehicle accommodation and maintenance because this is one of the crucial issues for the functioning of the Municipality. The development and progress of an environment simply cannot occur without good and functional traffic. In this way, we can help sports clubs, pensioner associations and other numerous organizations in our city in particular," Vraneš said recently.
