Education is the foundation of sustainable development, said Minister of Education, Science and Innovation Anđela Jakšić Stojanović at a meeting within the Global Councils for Sustainable Development Goals, which was held in Dubai.

As they stated, the Global Councils for Sustainable Development Goals represent a unique interdisciplinary network of decision-makers from government, international organizations, academia, and the private sector, with the aim of exchanging innovative practices and improving the creative implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at the national and global levels.

"The initiative was launched in 2018 by the United Arab Emirates' General Secretariat for the Sustainable Development Goals, and was officially launched during the World Government Summit – SDGs in Action event," the statement said.

It is stated that during the first two cycles, a significant contribution was made to global efforts to accelerate the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, evolving from a conceptual initiative to a comprehensive international platform within the framework of the World Government Summit.

"The initiative continued through the third cycle of the Global Councils for SDGs, covering the period 2024–2026, which was officially launched during the 2025 World Government Summit, while the fourth cycle was launched at this year's Summit so that governments around the world can continue to contribute to achieving the goals defined by the 2030 Agenda," the statement added.
